Found along the road at daytime: an echnida (Tachyglossus aculeatus), showing pretty much the same behaviour an European hedgehog would. When realizing it was detected it hoped it's long spines would be protection enough. So it sat down, didn't move and kept waiting 'til we left again.That's why these pictures are not really sensational. My model didn't want to show me more and I didn't urge. Having fewer spines is characteristic for the Tasmania subspecies.
